Our nation faces deep divisions today - politically, economically, and culturally. Many of us share a common concern about the direction of our country. As we embrace our 2024 theme, Going Deeper with God, we find opportunities to lean into our faith and draw hope from it.

One such opportunity is in recognizing Veteran's Day. We can unite in gratitude for the men and women who have served in our armed forces, defending the freedoms we hold dear. Another is to acknowledge the blessings of our country - a nation with nearly 250 years of freedom and opportunity. Additionally, we have the privilege of participating in democracy by voting. We encourage you to vote on November 5th.

However, the greatest opportunity is the hope we possess as followers of Jesus Christ. God's Word reminds us that He is in control, urging us to trust in God's promises.

•  'For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord.'   Psalm 71:15
•  'Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'  Joshua 1:
•  'Sovereign Lord, you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.'  Acts 4:24

Take a moment today to affirm God's control over your life and the world around you. Consider praying: 'You are the King of my heart, one and only Sovereign, Lord of all. Thank you that I don't have to be in control because YOU are. Thank you for your command of every situation, and for loving us while YOU hold ALL things together. In the name of Jesus, Amen.'
