In a previous edition we shared with you our Dove Investments 2024 theme – ‘Going Deeper’. Throughout the year we will look more closely at what it means to ‘Go Deeper.’

We have already seen one aspect of ‘Going Deeper’ – that to know God deeply means not just to scratch the surface of knowing Him but to go deeper into a relationship that impacts every area of our lives.  It is not just a ‘intellectual’ knowledge but a ‘practical and transforming’ knowledge.  Jesus speaks of this when he says, ‘Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.’ John 17:3

Let’s look at a second aspect. It is easy to be lulled into complacency in our Christian life. Just as it takes work to keep the romantic fires alive in a marriage, so to continue growing as a Christian takes effort and constant attention. For Christians, ‘knowing’ God and Jesus is both our path and our destination. This leads us into greater faith, hope, and love. It is a ‘knowing’ that helps us to follow Jesus, even in the seasons of darkness and difficulty. It is a ‘knowing’ that ultimately leads to life of joy and peace. We encourage to take a quiet moment today and reflect on the character of the God and Jesus you ‘know.’  Write down three characteristics and post them on your refrigerator – for example, loving, powerful and full of grace.  Let these characteristics influence the way you live out each day.
