Here at Dove Investments, we continue to think about what it means to live out our theme for 2024 – ‘Going Deeper!’ Just as we see transformation in nature, we seek change in our own lives.  Where does it begin?  Many of us are discovering the linkage of self-examination, confession, emotional healthiness, and spiritual growth.  The psalmist asks God to ‘Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’ Psalm 139-23-24.  This invitation comes sincerely and hopefully.  It involves a recognition of our condition – all of us are flawed sinners. But it does not stop there. It then moves to an honesty around our condition, a hope for growth, a plea for guidance, and a promise of eternal life.

Where do you need to go deeper in your understanding of growth?  Is it a better understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in every area of your life – your soul, your emotions and fears, your relationships, your money, and your future?  To do this we must begin where the psalmist does, a confession of our condition and a plea to God to work to bring healing, change, and growth. We encourage you to consider what false ideas about yourself or God may block your willingness to examine your life and move toward God. One thing that helps us do this is the knowledge that God, because of the Cross, is ready to hear our cries and respond, not with surprise or judgment but with understanding and love.
